When was rubber first used on Roofs?
EPDM Rubber unlike Butyl rubber is completely UV and infrared stable making it perfect as a roofing material.
The first commercial rubber roof was installed in the United States in 1965 by Carlisle Syntec, it is now 50 years old and still going strong.
This makes Classicbond the only EPDM with a proven 50 year life expectancy!
EDPM For Flat Roofs
The Classicbond EPDM roofing uses an extremely durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane and is widely used all over the world
It has made its way over to the UK from the United States because it performs so well in our unpredictable weather conditions.
It has two primary ingredients – ethylene and propylene (these are derived from oil and natural gas)
EPDM roofing is available in a one piece seamless sheet and cut to size to your roof. It comes in black whilst available in a broad variety of widths and thicknesses.
EPDM flat roofing can be installed either fully adhered (glued), mechanically attached (screwed) or ballasted (weighed down with pebbles), with any seams of the EPDM roofing system sealed with liquid adhesives or specially formulated tape. This process is very specialised and should only be carried out by fully trained contractors.
